Why CSFP Matters

Many older adults face difficult decisions between purchasing food, paying utility bills, obtaining medications, or meeting other basic needs. According to the Ohio Department of Aging, there are more than 2.8 million Ohioans age 60 and older, representing nearly one-quarter of the state's population. Of this number, more than 249,000 seniors are food insecure as of 2023. As Ohio's senior population continues to grow, programs like CSFP play an increasingly important role in supporting healthy aging and food security.

The Need is Growing
In the US, an estimated 7.4 million (9.2%) Seniors (60+) and 5.2 million (12.8%) Older Adults (50-59) experience food insecurity as of 2023.
CSFP serves hundreds of thousands of older adults nationwide with monthly food assistance.
The program helps reduce hunger while promoting healthier diets among low-income seniors.
Food assistance allows seniors on fixed incomes to devote more resources to housing, healthcare, and other essential expenses.
